Daniel Ricciardo had a frustrating evening after finishing P15 at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Daniel looked strong in the practice sessions after finishing inside the top 5 in FP2 and top 10 in FP3. He also managed a decent qualifying with P9. But it was all for naught as he ended up outside the points after the race. Ricciardo looked strong in the first part of the race but fought extremely in the second part. Daniel Ricciardo was left frustrated after missing an opportunity to earn more points in the McLaren bag.

Ricciardo had a fantastic start and was very strong on the media. But after switching to hards, things didn’t go well for the driver. Hards were not the best choice for the Hungaroring. The top finisher fought his way up with the same mix and lost a possible podium. Daniel battled both Alpines and went ahead of them with a fantastic double overtake. But the end result frustrated the driver as he explained the on-track scenario.

“Unfortunately, there were more lows than highs. The start felt good, but after that I sagged a bit.” said Daniel.

As already mentioned, the first drivers on hard had big problems with traction during the laps. Mediums were much better than the other two compounds. Charles Leclerc lost another win because he was given hard tyres.

“The soft really fell apart and I didn’t have anything on that tire. It was a little better with the medium. The Hard didn’t work for us, I just never really got it to work.” explained Ricciardo.

McLaren is still stuck behind Alpine even after a great result from Lando Norris who finished P4. They are 4 points behind Alpine with 99 points. The battle for fourth place will continue after the summer break.
