The Warriors unveil and unleash their new super lineup (nickname follows) – The Athletic

Jordan Poole, the youngest of the group, came back in the second quarter with 4:23 left to join Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins and suddenly it all came together perfectly for the Warriors on Saturday night at the Chase Center.

Suddenly it felt very traditional. And very, very impressive.

These are the top five Warriors players. These are five of the most dynamic players in the league. And they had never played together as a five-man unit up until that moment in Game 1 against Denver, although everyone around the Warriors had been talking about it, planning it and dreaming a little bit about it.

Then maybe the reality was even a little bit better, at least for a game. But what a game. And what opportunities that have opened up for this postseason and into the future.

It started with the Warriors trailing, 43-40, a few minutes into that unit’s debut. Then Poole drilled a deep pull-up 3 with space opened up by defenders scampering to cover Curry and Klay and spinning off Draymond’s screen. Poole followed, slicing inside for a layup and a free throw as the Nuggets’ heads turned. Draymond then found Klay with a nice back cut for an easy layup. A Klay 3 followed with an assist from Poole. This was followed by a curry cut and layup from a Draymond pass. The Warriors unveil and unleash their new super lineup (nickname follows) – The Athletic
