The upcoming Chrono Trigger patch for PC will add 21:9 full screen support, auto battle speed boost and more

The popular time-travelling JRPG Chrono Trigger gets its first update for PC and mobile in four years.

That’s right. Square Enix Japan has posted a new patch video on its YouTube channel. The update will bring full screen display with 21:9 aspect ratio, improved usability, 1.5x battle speed option and up to 20 unique saves at once. The mobile update will also specifically add an Extras section where you can watch movies and illustrations and listen to music.

The mobile version of Chrono Trigger was originally released in 2012 and was last updated in 2018 to keep up with the Steam version at the time. The PC port was heavily criticized when it first launched, but over time, thanks to some much-needed patches, has been improved to the point that the game has been rated “very positive” on the Steam side by both recent and all user reviews past four years.

The last major update for Chrono Trigger on Steam in August 2018 was dubbed the last by Square Enix, but apparently something has changed. The latest patch for Chrono Trigger will be released on March 11th on Steam, iOS and Android.
