The Super Mario Bros Deserve a Beach Vacation (Art Post)

Mario Bros. on the beach

I know Mario games used to be about the beach, but back then –Mario Sunshine above all – was it work or quests, and quests are work. Instead, this series of illustrations by Léo Chérel imagines what it would be like if the brothers (and friends) were all able to create a proper, well-earned vacation.

You know, like in Japanese games like persona The crew always manages to sneak into an adventure vacation, everyone puts on their bathing suits, goes to the beach and has some slapstick fun? Yes, imagine that, only with Bowser looking very nervous about salt water.

Chérel is an artist from France who makes comics, illustrates and also does storyboard and concept work. You can see more of Chérel’s stuff on his ArtStation page.
