Waluigi might not get the love he deserves from Nintendo, but the internet stepped in to show this odd, lanky boy that he’s valued and respected. The odd character has become a popular meme topic across the internet. Now a group of friends have taken their love for Waluigi even further and thrown an entire bachelor party around the Nintendo character. This weird party has since gone viral on TikTok and social media.

Last week, August 5th, a TikTok video was uploaded showing seven people –all disguised as different Waluigi variants– attend a bachelorette party and separately guess which one of them would end the night as the drunk. At the end of the video, Elvis Waluigi appears and after sharing their guess – pirate Waluigi, which seems like a pretty reasonable bet – they then declare that they are the bride themselves. It sure is a weird but entertaining video that instantly spread online, with the original TikTok at nearly 1 million views and re-uploads them somewhere else and also gets thousands of views.

Your first question might be the same question I had when scouting bride-to-be Emily.Cherie sherbetYates aka Elvis Waluigi: Why?

“As I thought about my future bachelorette party, I knew I wanted to do a messy costume night,” Yates explained kotaku. “I’ve seen some really good Guy Fieri and Shrek related themes online, but I wanted something I haven’t seen before!”

Eventually, she settled on Waluigi because she feels he’s “just a lanky being with pure chaotic energy” who also has a very “iconic” appearance. Of course, deciding to throw a Waluigi-style bachelor party and actually telling people are two very different things. To sell the concept to her friends and family, Yates said she put together a PowerPoint presentation back in January.

“I got a lot of ‘What…why?’ Reactions, especially from people who just don’t have that much internet presence,” the bride-to-be admitted. “Which is perfectly fair! It doesn’t really make sense and that’s why I wanted to do it!”

Yates said that all of the people in the video were given full creative freedom to make their own “wah sonas” and contestants went “pretty hard” on their costumes and characters. While the last video shows seven Waluigis, Yates says nine were planned, but two friends had to get out before the party. Still, having over half a dozen Waluigi variants in one place is quite a sight.

“When we actually went through the bars in costume, we got a lot of really great reactions,” Yates said. “I think it was even more unexpected because we went out on a Tuesday night and not on a regular weekend.”

While she always intended to record some of the party and costumes for her own private enjoyment, she also wanted to share some of the event on TikTok. However, she didn’t expect to get the huge response she got.

“My friends and I read every single comment and screened our favorites,” she said kotaku. “What surprises me the most is that every comment is very positive and healthy!”

Putting her Waluigi Elvis costume together took some time and hard work, so she plans to share more videos about the creation and also wear it when she goes to conventions in the future. She even has ideas to organize a Waluigi themed pub crawl in the future.

As for her wedding, Yates made it clear that while she likes “chaos” and weird stuff, her actual ceremony in November will be more “traditional.”

Oh, and if you’re wondering who was actually the drunkest that night when all the Waluigis got together, Yates says it was a tie between her and Pirate Waluigi, who is also her twin brother. You can see evidence of this in a follow-up from TikTok posted by the two hypnotized at 2am from a bug on a sidewalk.

Yates loves creating things online, and even streams on Twitch. It’s very rewarding for her to do stuff that people like, so this weird party that went so viral and attracted so many positive comments was a blast for her.
