The St. Louis Cardinals trade date predictions not involving Juan Soto
The St. Louis Cardinals could be in for a few surprises before the close of trading
That St. Louis Cardinals sit just over .500 in mid-table as they are currently tied for third and final NL wildcard spot with a record of 53-47 in 100 games. With that, however, there are many areas they need to address, partly due to a series of injuries.
They currently have eight players on the injured list and most of them should be big contributors to the team.
Here are five surprises the Cardinals pulled off before the MLB trade deadline.

RP Detroit Tigers
The St. Louis Cardinals are trading for the Detroit Tigers’ Andrew Chafin
One of the Cardinals’ biggest problems is their lack of a consistent left-handed assist. TJ McFarland had a terrible season. In 27 games, he has a 6.60 ERA (4.99 FIP).
Génesis Cabrera had a good season overall, but he was a) very lucky and b) was a bit unpredictable. In his last seven games (7.1 innings), he has run seven times, has a 4.91 ERA and a 5.99 FIP (suggesting he’s very lucky). Overall, his 4.77 FIP is nearly double his ERA (2.60).
For Andrew Chafin, he has played 37 games this season with a 2.53 ERA (156 ERA+). He also has a 2.22 FIP, a 1.063 WHIP and averages 2.8 walks and 11 strikeouts per nine innings. He has a player option for 2023, so if the Cardinals traded for him, they might as well have him for next year.
