The San Francisco giants have signed free agent Carlos Rodon. Rodon had a stellar season with the White Sox last year.
Rodon has a history of injuries, but his medics have come back clean after the shutdown, raising interest from many teams across the MLB. Of course, the giants are also in that combination.
Ultimately, the San Francisco Giants signed Rodon to a two-year contract. The agreement is meaningful to both parties, as it is not a significant risk to the Giantsbut also allows Rodon to earn a lot of capital in the short term.

According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, Rodon will earn $44 million over the course of his two-year contract.

Rodon was three periods on the 60-day injury list over the course of three seasons. In 2018 he had surgery on his left shoulder, while in 2019 and 2020, Rodon suffered an elbow injury that can be devastating for most pitchers.

However, in the 2021 season, Rodon has returned significantly. The then-Sox initiator produced great numbers on the South Side of Chicago, hitting a 13-5 record, combined with a 2.37 ERA and 0.96 WHIP.
If Rodon can reflect those numbers next season, surely the Giants will agree they’ve made a worthy investment.
