The Rings of Power trailer is a great look at Amazon’s Lord of the Rings

The Amazon spinoff series Lord of the Rings now has its longest, most detailed trailer. The new trailer, released Thursday, goes into detail about the show’s plot and gives us glimpses of some of the series’ biggest characters. The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will premiere on September 2nd on Amazon Prime Video.

The trailer still doesn’t delve too deeply into the series’ storyline, but it does let us know that it’s about Galadriel’s (Morfydd Clark) attempt to stop a great evil that some believe no longer poses a threat. We also know that the series will cover the second age of Middle-earth, a time well before the events of Lord of the Ringswhen Sauron came to power and the peoples of Middle-earth had to rise up to defeat him.

The trailer also features several other characters from the series, including Sadoc Burrows (Lenny Henry), High King Gil-galad (Benjamin Walker), and Arondir (Ismael Cruz Cordova), all of whom appear to play important roles in the series.

The series had a long build up to the first trailer with two different teaser trailers: a very short video that was posted to YouTube and another that only debuted on Amazon Prime before appearing on YouTube a few days later.
