Anno: Mutationem is getting a lot of attention; indie game featuring protagonist Ann Flores wielding a laser sword reminiscent of Major from Ghost in the shell is no doubt worthy of it. Chinese developer ThinkingStars has announced their unique side-scrolling adventure will see a cross-platform release via a new action trailer.
According to the game’s official Twitter, the pre-order window for the PlayStation is currently open and will come with an interesting bonus skin for Ann. Ann is a “highly skilled combat-trained lone wolf” and she has some points to settle with a super company that may know something about her missing brother. The game is a beautiful pixel art callback to classic cyberpunk noir entries like Blade Runner.
For those who need to wait until next month, the demo for Anno: Mutationem is on Steam, and it’s a colorful, eclectic mix of both 2D and 3D animation. Third-person combat is fun with a lot of variety; enchanting sombre tone that fits the genre; Discovery is fun and people will react differently to Ann based on her appearance. The trailer also shows off a cool bar and a fishing mini-game.
Publisher Lightning Games has clarified that the game is approximately 12 hours long and will include English, Japanese, and Chinese voiceovers. Anno: Mutationem is scheduled to release on March 17 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
