The Pittsburgh Steelers drew 3 veterans out of the 2022 NFL Draft

Since the Pittsburgh Steelers brought in some new players through the draft, they might find they’re interested in dropping a few veterans from their roster.
The Pittsburgh Steelers got through the 2022 NFL Draft and hit some intriguing picks along the way. Not every pick looks great, but overall the Steelers did a good job during the draft.
Now, post-draft, Pittsburgh is moving forward and working to become a relevant team again. If the Steelers progress, it’s probably wise to consider moving on from some other players already in their roster.
Here are three players the Steelers could drop from their roster.
2022 NFL Draft: 3 players Pittsburgh Steelers could be eliminated after the NFL Draft
No. 3: Benny Snell Jr.
After a solid career with the Kentucky Wildcats, Benny Snell Jr. really wasn’t that active a contributor for the Steelers. After being drafted in 2019, Snell has only 892 rushing yards and six touchdowns with 255 carries. With Najee Harris appearing to be taking the running back and the Steelers going out and bringing in Mataeo Durant and Jaylen Warren as undrafted free agents, it seems unlikely that Pittsburgh will necessarily need to hold on to Snell to succeed.
Cutting Snell wouldn’t have a drastic impact on the Steelers’ financial condition as he only has one season left on his current contract, but it would make room for another player who could potentially have more impact in the long run.
#2: Cody White
Despite the fact that he made his NFL debut last season, it’s clear that Cody White’s presence on this roster really didn’t have a huge impact on Pittsburgh’s performance on the field. Admittedly, White didn’t have many opportunities to influence.
There’s nothing wrong with Pittsburgh deciding to keep him to see if he can develop into a dangerous receiving option or a permanent contributor for special teams, but the Steelers would likely be in decent form if they decided to of White to go away.
So far White has played in 15 games, mostly appearing in special team situations. Given that Pittsburgh just picked up a few receivers in the draft, it seems like a player like White could unfortunately be dropped from the roster.
No. 1: Bricklayer Rudolf
Between signing Mitch Trubisky and drafting Kenny Pickett, the Steelers now have a few other quarterbacks besides Mason Rudolph to ultimately move forward with.
The 26-year-old quarterback has played for Pittsburgh here and there when the Steelers needed him, and he didn’t always look great on the field. In 384 passing attempts since 2019, Rudolph has thrown for 2,366 yards and 16 touchdowns, but also threw 11 interceptions during the same period.
Given that Rudolph wasn’t exactly as productive or efficient, there’s certainly an argument for Pittsburgh to walk away from him and give someone else a chance to spearhead that offense. Unfortunately for Rudolph, that may ultimately mean him being cut by the Steelers.
