The Packers manager feels Davante Adams deserves the team’s greatest honor

He may be gone, but of course, the talented and prolific Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams will not be forgotten.

A little over four months ago, the Green Bay packers traded five-time Pro Bowl and two-time All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams to the Las Vegas robbers for a selection of the first and second round in April. Conversely, Silver and Black signed the prolific actor to a five-year, $140 million contract extension (via Spotrac).

That 2014 second round selection from Fresno State has really improved his game over the past six seasons. In 87 regular season outings, he totaled an impressive 581 catches, 69 for points.

His 669 receptions in eight seasons with the Packers rank second in franchise history behind only Donald Driver (743), who also holds the club’s record for receiving yards (10,137). Adams has totaled 8,121 yards on his 669 catches, behind only Drive, Pro Football Hall of Famer James Lofton (9,656) and legendary wideout Sterling Sharpe (8,134).

Packers: Mark Murphy says Davante Adams belongs in the team’s Hall of Fame

Adams’ 73 goals ranks behind the only Pro Football Hall of Famer Don Hutson (99) in the organization’s impressive history. So it’s really no surprise that while he’ll wear a different uniform in 2022 and maybe beyond, he’s made his mark on Titletown.

“I have a lot of respect for Davante,” Green Bay Packers president Mark Murphy said at a recent shareholder meeting (via MichaelDavidSmith by Pro Football Talk). “Obviously he’s been a great player for us and as good a person as you’ll ever see in the game. The way he has handled this whole situation has been really outstanding and I am very confident that he will come back and be a member of our Hall of Fame.”

It would be a great honor for Adams and obviously speaks to the impact he has made on the organization.
