It’s only true that we’re closed this important week by honoring the more beautiful women of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated who have grown in 102 years of scholarship, service, sisterhood, and better womanhood.
In 1920, five sorority organizations formed on the Howard University campus in a historic moment that would influence positive change, raise awareness, encourage the highest standards of achievement, and promote student success. learning and promoting a spirit of solidarity among members.
These women believe that feminism and socialization have overshadowed the true mission of progressive organizations and failed to adequately address social problems, evils, prejudice, and poverty. Hunger is affecting humanity in general and the Black community in particular.
Since its founding, Zeta Phi Beta has continued to steadily rise into the national spotlight with programs that show concern for the human condition both nationally and internationally.
With hundreds of chapters worldwide and over 100,000 members, it made history as the first National Pan-Hellenic Council organization to centralize its activities at its national headquarters. The first to establish a chapter in Africa, the first to establish auxiliary groups, and to be constitutionally bound to the fraternity, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
Sororities pride themselves on transforming communities through the volunteer services of its members and supporters through the outreach and support services of its many affiliated organizations.
Notable members of the organization include Zora Neale Hurston, Chaka Khan, Dionne Warwick, Vivica Fox, Sheryl Underwood, Towanda Braxton, Gwendolyn Brooks, Syleena Johnson, Sarah Vaughn, Anita Hill, Esther Rolle, etc.
