The Masters is finally here and we’re rounding up all of our best bets and Masters expert picks for the week at Augusta National Golf Club.

Call it a national golf vacation, The Masters is upon us. The world’s best players are landing at Augusta National Golf Club for the April 7-10 tournament and the first major championship of 2022. And it looks set to be one for the ages.

Not only are we looking at an extraordinarily charged field of star power and the way some guys have emerged over the past year – guys like Scottie Scheffler, Cameron Smith, Sam Burns and others – but the emerging presence is the return of Tiger Woods appears to be preparing to play again for the first time since his horrific car crash and injury in early 2021.

Tiger’s Aura will make that trip to Augusta National Golf Club absolutely unavoidable this week, but that would still be the case. Above all, however, we are trying to profit from the first major of the year. To help with that, we present our comprehensive Masters expert tips and the best bets for the tournament that we can tackle and make some money.

Let’s look at our top 5, 10, and 20 picks before we break down more best bets and then the outright winners we like. Let’s take a look at our expert picks for this week at The Masters.

The Masters Expert Picks: Top 5, Top 10, Top 20, One and Done picks

Top 5 pick for The Masters: Cameron Smith

Whenever Cameron Smith won THE PLAYERS in March, there would be a rush on social media to say, “Bet him he wins Augusta now.” I always tend to shy away from it and just wait for the Masters or beating another major championship like I would every week. But the more I think about it, the harder it becomes not to have invested in Smith.

Smith is sixth in that field in Strokes Gained: Approach for the last 50 rounds and has arguably the best short game in the world right now. Add to that the fact that he’s played very well against Augusta National in three of the last four years of his career with a T10, T2 and T5. I don’t mind betting him to win, but the top 5 picks offer a bit more certainty while still posting consensus odds above +300.

Top 10 pick for The Masters: Viktor Hovland

Anyone who’s been following my picks for any length of time is aware of my affinity for Viktor Hovland, and that’s not going to go away this week. The Norwegian is only entering this tournament for the third time but has performed well in his previous two starts, finishing T32 as a low amateur in 2019 and T21 last year. The approach play is paramount this week and he’s the best in the field in that regard over the last 50 rounds.

Additionally, he’s the only player in the field to finish in the top five on approaches from 175-200 yards and 200-225 yards, which is crucial here. I love having around a +200 chance of him finishing in the top 10, especially as he gains more and more experience at this vaunted track.

Top 20 pick for The Masters: Jordan Spieth

Do I love the value of getting Jordan Spieth, who hasn’t been at his best lately at around -110 overall, into the top 20? Nothing special. Still, it feels like an incredible bet to me because Spieth is so good when he travels to this place.

For his eight starts, he has one win, two second places and two third places at Augusta. He’s also only finished outside the top 20 twice in this run, including a T21 in 2019. What gives me more confidence is the fact that Spieth showed something to hang his hat on on the last lap of the Valero in Texas Open when he led the field in Sunday’s Strokes Gained: Approach. I don’t think he’s going to win, but a top 20 finish feels like a suspension.

One and Done Pick for The Masters: Cameron Smith

We won’t deepen the point when it comes to Smith as we already have him as our top 5 pick, but he feels like a top pick for One and Done this week. He has proven he can succeed in this event, is in one of the best shape in the world right now and has a creative game that should suit him to succeed. There’s win equity, but more importantly, there’s a very high chance he’s also making big money this week, which is what we’re looking for.

Note: Top 5, Top 10, and Top 20 picks should also be considered best bets, although they are not included on the next page. The Masters expert picks, best bets for Augusta National Golf Club in 2022
