BRAINTREE (CBS) – South Shore Plaza in Braintree was closed Saturday afternoon and people are being asked to avoid the area due to police activity after a man was shot inside the square.
He was taken to a hospital in Boston with life-threatening injuries.
Braintree Police issued a warning to avoid the area around 3:30pm
A short time later, police said the mall was closed.
“I was very close to a door, and I just heard people start saying, ‘Evacuate! Evacuation! I just dropped my product and started to run out with the masses,” said Keri Maceus, who was inside the mall at the time of the photo shoot.
According to Braintree Police, anyone who is sheltering in place inside the store can get out safely. Officers will direct those people out safely.
According to police, the suspect is not in custody at this time.
Police said more details are expected to be released soon.
