As a long-running series the Walking Dead As it is going through its final season, AMC Networks has announced that they are collaborating with the Museum of Moving Images (MoMI) to present a major exhibition entitled ” Life with The Walking Dead. Dedicated to the popular series, the exhibition opens on June 25, 2022 at the Museum of Moving Images in Astoria, Queens, New York and will be open for six months, ending on January 1, 2023.
The exhibition at MoMI offers an in-depth examination of the groundbreaking series, examining its history, development and impact, and examining the issues and themes central to the series. The exhibition will also be accompanied by several screening series and other public events during the six-month exhibition period. Life with The Walking Dead will be found in the museum’s rotating exhibition gallery on the third floor, exploring the story and “cinematic and literary progenitors” from their influences to their origins as a graphic novel series by Robert Kirkman.
The exhibit will also include the original costumes and props from the series, as well as the famous prosthetic makeup footage from the Special Effects Makeup Supervisor and Executive Producer Gregory Nicotero and his team at the award-winning KNB EFX Studios, turning actors into legions of undead. Other aspects of the show’s production on display include concept art, storyboards, and scripts.

Tickets for the event will be available from May 5th for MoMI members and May 9th for the general public. MoMI had previously partnered with AMC Networks on the exhibitions From Mr. Chips to Scarface: Walter White’s transformation into Breaking Bad (2013) and Matthew Weiner’s Mad Men (2015).
It’s no surprise that a series of the size and cultural impact of the Walking Dead gets its own exhibition in the MoMI. The series debuted on Halloween night in 2010 as the #1 cable series of all time and is the most-watched series in cable history. Since then, the series has been running for over a decade, and during that time it has held on thanks to its “unique innovations” “Extensive survival story, diverse characters, and a devoted legion of fans.” It has also spawned many spin-offs and supplemental content, including talking death, Fear the walking death, The Walking Dead: World Beyondtwo spin-offs planned for 2023 and the upcoming episodic anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead.
