The Los Angeles Lakers have a lot going on and are a team full of star talent. From LeBron James to Anthony Davis to Russell Westbrook. When all is said and done, there may be more than a few Celebrities on this list. Which begs the question, why are the Lakers so bad? That is a question with many answers. But, I want to look at a few key areas where the Lakers are failing this year.
First, as bad as everything has been with the Lakers, they’ve been looking even gloomier lately, like Erin Kate Dolan shown. LA is 0-10 compared to the first half of their last ten games overall. The Lakers were also 1-9 ATS in the first half of their last ten games at Crypto.com Arena. While these are just ATS 1H stats, they show how much of an overall stink they are right now. The Lakers have only lost 2-7 ATS in their last nine games and haven’t included an away game since Jan. 12. They’re basically an auto-fade game in my book and can not be trusted to give out.
I believe many of their problems are caused by others struggling to stay healthy. In particular, Anthony Davis. He continues to show he is a very believable superstar despite his obvious skill set. He played just 70 games twice in his career and only 36 games last season with the Lakers. This has forced an aging LeBron James to take over most of the matches and I don’t think he has enough time left in the tank to do that every night. Another issue that has been reported a lot lately is the bad attitude of Russell Westbrook.
The Lakers are probably regretting making the move because the former MVP looks like a shell of the player he once was. He’s always been a very questionable shooter, and now without his legendary athletic prowess, his game looks pretty weak. He didn’t fit into this team and is now playing full-time at both ends of the pitch. This leads me to my final point. This roster, while full of HOF talent, is old. These guys are getting closer to the HOF than their draft date and it’s not working. The Lakers were too slow and couldn’t keep up with the young talent in the league. Their ATS records prove it, and I recommend avoiding them on the spread until something changes.
