The kick-off for the second half of the Old Firm Derby was postponed after broken glass was thrown onto the pitch

Kick-off for the second half of the old firm derby between Rangers and Celtic was postponed after a broken glass bottle was thrown onto the Ibrox pitch.

The bottle, which had shattered into several sharp shards, was cleared by Rangers ground staff from Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart’s box.

The restart was delayed by around five minutes.

Celtic had come from behind to lead the crucial title duel 2-1 at half-time. They started the day three points clear of Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership and held on to victory to double their lead over their Glasgow rivals.

Aaron Ramsey scored an early opener for Rangers after a pullback from Ryan Kent, only for Celtic to respond through Tom Rogic. Cameron Carter-Vickers then put the visitors in front just before half-time.

Recent Rangers games have seen several riots by spectators, with play stopped three times during their game against Dundee when fans protested the club’s participation in the Sydney Super Cup. Rangers then withdrew from the competition.
