The K-Wings . Wild Doomsday Third Period

KALAMAZAOO, MI – The tough third frame saw Kalamazoo Wings (10-8-0-0) fall to Fort Wayne Komets (12-6-2-0) during Elf Night at Wings Event Center on Saturday.

K-Wings opened the scoring shortly after 2:42 in the competition. In a flash situation, Kalamazoo was forced to turn around in the Komets area. Kalamazoo Striker Erik Bradford beat the keeper with a beautiful dribble to give K-Wings a 1-0 lead.

The scoring floodgates opened in the second frame. K-Wings forward Logan Lambdin hit the post after Kyle Blaney’s fine cross gave Kalamazoo a 2-0 lead. Fort Wayne will respond with a 5v3 power play goal from defenders Connor Corcoran. Komet’s teammate, Blake Siebenaler, would score another goal to draw it at two to end the half.

In the third inning, Blaney headed home Zach Jordan, who quickly headed the snapper to give Kalamazoo a 3-2 lead. Komets will respond with five unanswered goals, including an unassisted goal from the center of Komets defender Zach Tolkinen.

Kalamazoo goalkeeper Trevor Gorsuch saved 25 of the 32 shots he faced in the 7-3 loss.
