The IPL franchises wish their fans Happy Holi and share pictures and videos from the occasion

Holi is celebrated across India today (March 18, 2022). The festival of Holi mainly signifies the triumph of good over evil. This is the day when the Hindu god Vishnu protected Prahlad and the nemesis Holika was burned to ashes. And to celebrate this auspicious occasion, several cricketers and IPL franchises have taken to social media to convey their wishes.

The 10 Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises have been sharing Holi wishes, videos and pictures with their fans on their official social media accounts. All franchise camps are preparing for the 2022 IPL season, which is scheduled to start on March 26th. While the Festival of Colors took place this Friday, all teams celebrated in different ways. The Mumbai Indians (MI) have posted video of skipper Rohit Sharma interacting with his wife Ritika Sajdeh. Delhi Capitals uploaded a clip of Rishabh Pant and Co. playing Holi together.

The Gujarat Titans shared a picture of their skipper Hardik Pandya with brother Krunal and KL Rahul. While Rahul will captain the Lucknow Super Giants, Krunal will play for the same franchise. Rajasthan Royals shared a video of their players in quarantine. The cricketers received a note wishing Holi and had to guess who sent it to them.

IPL 2022 schedule and format

The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League will be held from March 26th to May 29th. The season kicks off with a match between last year’s finalists Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. A total of 70 matches will be played in the league phase across four venues in Mumbai and Pune. Since 10 teams are participating this time, the format has been slightly adjusted.

The teams were divided into two virtual groups of five. However, the game plan is designed in such a way that all teams still play 14 games in the end. The format of the playoffs remains the same with two qualifiers and one eliminator. There will be a total of 12 double headers during IPL 2022. The first double-header will be played on March 27 with a day game between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The double header night game will be played between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
