Holi is celebrated across India today (March 18, 2022). The festival of Holi mainly signifies the triumph of good over evil. This is the day when the Hindu god Vishnu protected Prahlad and the nemesis Holika was burned to ashes. And to celebrate this auspicious occasion, several cricketers and IPL franchises have taken to social media to convey their wishes.

IPL 2022 schedule and format

The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League will be held from March 26th to May 29th. The season kicks off with a match between last year’s finalists Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. A total of 70 matches will be played in the league phase across four venues in Mumbai and Pune. Since 10 teams are participating this time, the format has been slightly adjusted.

The teams were divided into two virtual groups of five. However, the game plan is designed in such a way that all teams still play 14 games in the end. The format of the playoffs remains the same with two qualifiers and one eliminator. There will be a total of 12 double headers during IPL 2022. The first double-header will be played on March 27 with a day game between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. The double header night game will be played between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
