Dallas’ size prevented anything Hornet could attempt to run offensively. Hornet couldn’t find much of an easy way to the basket and their shots were unfortunately dropped. Charlotte only Shot the ball 39.5% from the pitch, that’s not the most ideal way to win the game.
On the bright side, Terry Rozier came back from health and safety procedures and scored 20 points.
However, the gap of LaMelo Ball still shows up very clearly. Just ask James Borrego:
“He means a lot to us because he creates a lot of easy points for us. The transition points, the easy stuff around the belt, he just had to create those hit patterns for us on his own,” Borrego said of the impact of Ball’s absence.
“During the transition and in the half court. Others can do that until LaMelo is back and completely healthy. Everyone has to uphold and create for us. Obviously, we miss Melo. Hopefully we will bring him back soon.”
Ball is the head of the snake for Hornet. He does the fast-paced attack for Charlotte down to a science, so it’s not the easiest thing to replace.
Don’t forget that Hornet is also missing Mason Plumlee. A person with seven legs can really give you favorable odds in most games. Lacking your starting point and center guard will be tough for any team in the league. Charlotte just needs to keep weathering the storm as best she can.
