The Fried Potato: Will Brian Stelter Be Fired?

Note: This article may contain comments that reflect the author’s opinion.

If CNN fires Brian “the Potato” Stelter, we’ll have to find a new joke. There will be no more “offenders” to taunt!

Unfortunately (or fortunately, if you prefer truth in the media to simple jokes), news is trickling from the network that Mr. Potatohead’s last days at CNN are numbered, with much of that news leaking out on Twitter:

Fantastic news: Brian Stelter, who has spent most of the last half decade trying to get people out of work, has told several people that he believes he will lose his job at CNN. Where else could he go? Who on earth would ever put this guy on TV again?

SOURCE: In the new @CNN Post-Discovery, “The role of ‘media reporter’ will take a new direction that will require a realignment of the workforce”

Understand that the ‘media reporter’ at CNN. Brian Stelter and Oliver Darcy were Zucker’s killer and clean-up crew. It makes sense that Discovery would want to start fresh. /There’s more to come.

Likewise. The fact that Discovery leaked the new CNN chief’s name to a former CNN reporter rather than current media reporters says everything you need to know.

Stelter’s possible dismissal would make sense for two reasons. The first is that CNN’s new owner is reportedly planning to turn CNN back into a news site, and the second is that calls for baking the potato have been heard since Zucker resigned over his affair with a CNN employee and the people found out that Stelter new about the affair.

Discuss the second one first Gateway Expert Noticed that:

Media critics are calling for Brian Stelter to be fired after he failed to report the “open secret” affair between top boss Jeff Zucker and employee Allison Gollust.

“The network needs to step up and fire Brian Stelter,” a CNN insider told “He’s supposedly our best media reporter – but he failed to cover the news that everyone in the office knew. And if he’s going to say he didn’t know, he’s really terrible at his job.

Fox similarly reports the Stelter situation, noting that:

A CNN “insider” is reportedly calling for the outlet’s leftist media correspondent Brian Stelter to be fired for failing to disclose CNN President Jeff Zucker’s romantic relationship with another senior colleague, in what critics have called an “open secret.” .

Stelter, who has emerged as CNN’s lackey whenever the network has become embroiled in controversy, was all over CNN’s airwaves on Wednesday to report on the sudden resignation of his boss, who admitted he had a friendly relationship he had with a other CNN executives had not disclosed.

On the first point, news about it originally leaked in November 2021. As I reported at the time:

This network, once a major player in the media market and recipient of Trump’s loudest attacks, has seen its viewership drop to below 1 million viewers per show in October. With the exception of the 90-minute Biden Town Hall, which averaged 1.2 million viewers, and the “Cuomo Prime Time” segment after City Hall, which averaged 1.1 million viewers, not a single CNN show in October reached the Also averaged just a million views, according to a Fox News report.

[…]These significant gains in the network’s viewership mean it needs to make big changes to its programming, which it appears to be doing now. According to ZeroHedge, these changes mean the program must make significant changes to both the content it airs and the people it airs.

So CNN is going to fire a lot of people anyway and Stelter’s head is on the chopping block thanks to his silence on Zucker’s affair. Goodbye, doer. The Fried Potato: Will Brian Stelter Be Fired?
