Police did not release the woman’s full identity other than her last name, Choi, but the South China Morning Post identified her as model Abby Choi.
Chung said authorities believe the 28-year-old woman had tens of millions of Hong Kong dollars in financial disputes with her ex-husband and his family and that “some people” were unhappy with how Choi was handling her financial assets .
After breaking into a village house rented by the victim’s ex-husband’s father on Friday afternoon, officers discovered two of a woman’s legs in the refrigerator, along with the victim’s ID card, credit cards and other belongings inside, Chung said.
“The police also found that the apartment had been meticulously prepared by cold-blooded killers,” he said.
“Tools used to dismember human bodies were found in the apartment, including meat grinders, chainsaws, long raincoats, gloves and masks.”
Human tissue was found in soup pots, Chung said.
Police were unable to locate the victim’s head, torso or hands at the scene.
Chung said the house was rented by her ex-husband’s father just a few weeks ago.
