The creator of ‘Cosmic Love’ talks about astrological matchmaking

“Cosmic Love” not only decides whether love is in the air, but also whether it is written in the stars.

The new reality dating show, which bows on August 12 on Amazon Prime Video, follows four people who each represent one of the four astrological elements: fire, water, earth and air. Each element is paired with those most compatible with their zodiac signs where they then have to mix, date and eliminate those matches.

“Astrology is really having this moment,” said Michael Rourke, creator and executive producer of Cosmic Love. diversity. “Young people not only regularly review their zodiac and believe it is scientific, but they make major life decisions based on their astrological guidance. It just felt like a really good mix to go into the dating format business with astrological guidance.”

In the debut season of Cosmic Love, the four elements are Maria Rodriguez (Capricorn, Earth element), Phoebe Davis (Leo, Fire element), Connor Shennan (Gemini, Air element), and Noel Allen (Pisces, Water element). Led by the Astro Chamber, a luminous orb that shares the advice of astrologers Ophira and Tali Edut (aka The AstroTwins), the lead candidates search for their potential soulmate based solely on their natal astrological charts.

“[The AstroTwins] were really instrumental – after we cast the show – [in] helping us find the astrological matches within the pool of people we’ve cast,” said Rourke, who is an Aquarius. “They were able to create these composite charts and figure out which would best fit Maria or Noel,” he continued.

As the four leads interact with 16 other singles on a romantic retreat – with possible marriage proposals and even wedding ceremonies along the way – the 10-episode first season of “Cosmic Love” will show just how effective astrology can be in finding the perfect mate .

“I learned that astrology is a guide, not a rule,” explained Rourke. “Especially when it comes to bringing people together through astrology, there are many different ways to see how it’s done.”

The Cosmic Love creator also believes that while astrology “provides a blueprint” and is a “great guide,” [you] you have to make your own decisions.” “At the end of the day, human nature is pretty strong and free will is pretty strong,” added Rourke.
