While we’ve seen Middle-earth on screen a few times, from ’70s cartoons to the six Peter Jackson films, there have been a number of spots in this prequel series that we’ve only ever seen heard from. From the island kingdom of Numenor to the Southlands and the traveling village of Harfoot, the artist team continues to work, led by Rick Heinrichs and Ramsey Avery Rings of Power were charged with taking a world we thought we knew and showing us, well, you haven’t seen it Everyone of it, or at least not when it was that old.

In this slideshow you’ll find a selection of work by some of the artists behind it, particularly those working in 2D on concepts and environment design.
