With the Cleveland Cavaliers On the precipice of something special on the hardwood, the Northeast Ohio professional basketball franchise now has some great new uniforms.

The Cavs unveiled new logos ahead of the 2022-23 season NBA season earlier this summer. While it’s never easy to pull off the gold and wine color combo, Cleveland did it justice here. The Cavs have three incredibly clean new uniforms for the upcoming season: Association (White), Icon (Wine), and Statement (Black). All three uniforms embody all eras of Cavs basketball history.

As for the logo updates, the two most notable components are the removal of the sword images across the board, as well as the reintroduction of the Cavs logo, which has the V shaped like a basketball net. It may not feature the black and light blue color scheme most associated with 1990s Cavs basketball, but it still looks amazing with the wine and gold on white.

Overall, it’s difficult to put holes in what the Cavs are trying to do with this kind of minor rebranding. They want to encapsulate everything that was great in all eras of their franchise history into one unified concept. It wasn’t going to be easy, but Cleveland really made it work here. Because as fresh as these new jerseys look, the only thing that matters if the Cavs make it to the playoffs.

Cleveland failed to qualify for the postseason a year ago despite being seeded 8th in the Eastern Conference Play-In tournament. The Cavs couldn’t get past the No. 7-ranked Brooklyn Nets or the No. 9-ranked Atlanta Hawks. Thankfully, that young core seems to be on the rise, playing hard every night for head coach JB Bickerstaff. So keep an eye on this bunch.
