In this morning’s episode of Bet & Breakfast, I have stated that the Buffalo Bills are, analytically and statistically, the best team in the NFL advancing to the knockout stages.
Some people have taken to Twitter to disagree with my point, so I thought I’d have to dig into this a bit more to try to prove my point.
I am a disabled person based on statistics. I bet on statistics and analysis because those are the only things you can really measure and point to as objective truth. Sure, things like motivation and other intangibles certainly exist and have an impact on game outcomes, but we can’t really measure them. When we use them to justify a bet, they are at best assumptions and conjecture.
When I say the Bills are the best stats team heading into post-season, here are the numbers I’m referring to:
I think it’s safe to say that all of those metrics are hugely important stats in measuring how good a team is, and the Bills rank first in most of them, but ranked first. third among them.
Compare the numbers above with those of the Packers, current betting favorites to win the Super Bowl (+375 at WynnBET), and who is the best team in the NFL in the opinion of many.
If you want to debate the intangibles, like the fact that the Bills let a few big games pass this season or how Buffalo weather could be an issue for them during the Wild Card weekend With the Patriots, those are all fair points. Or if you want to say that their lack of movement will hurt them in the knockout stages, I wouldn’t agree with that either.
On the other hand, if you want to argue that Aaron Rodgers’ playoff experience and MVP arm will lead them to the championship, or hard to win at Lambeau Field, those are definitely points you can make.
But that doesn’t make my statement untrue. The Bills, on a statistical level, are the best team in the NFL moving into the post-season and include the team that has The best record in the league, the packers.
