Aboard the USG Ishimura, players will find a good selection of hidden weapon types; some are better than others. Each weapon can be upgraded multiple times, but upgrading everything in a single playthrough is impossible. These are the five best weapons in Dead Space Remake.
5: The Ripper

The Ripper was a nice gimmick in the original game, but the addition of alternate fire has breathed new life into this weapon. You can choose to fire the blade and hold it in front of Isaac, making clearing out fast-moving enemies a breeze. When an enemy is within range, you can use the new alternate fire to shoot the saw blade and bounce it off walls, which can deal a decent amount of damage with minimal ammo. This weapon is in chapter three in the machine shop.
4: The Flamethrower

You can’t have a scary alien sci-fi horror experience without having a good flamethrower with you. The flamethrower was a decent but ineffective weapon in the 2008 original, but it’s been improved in several ways for this remake. The revamped upgrade system lends itself to more meaningful and powerful perk combos, and the alternate fire creates a wall of fire that will stop any enemy. This weapon is given to you in the third chapter.
3: Pulse Rifle

The Pulse Rifle is the only traditional ballistic weapon in Dead Space. It packs quite a punch, but what really makes it shine is its readily available ammo and new proximity mine alternate fire mode. The alternate Fire Mine comes in handy when you’re up against a lot of enemies in a tight space. It can also be used to set up chokepoints or traps for enemies trying to sneak up behind you during a heated fight. This weapon is given to you early in the main story and cannot be missed.
2: contact beam

If you’ve always wanted to get a dose of Iron Man in your Dead Space, the Contact Beam is the weapon you need. It fires charged plasma, which takes a bit of getting used to. It’s not good for fast-paced battles against enemies that surprise you, but it shines in boss fights against slow-moving and large targets. It’s massively powerful even without upgrades, but keep in mind its limited ammo capacity. It can be found in Chapter Four while redirecting power to the ADS Cannons.
1: plasma cutter

The Plasma Cutter might not be the fanciest weapon in the game, or even the funniest, but it’s easily the best and most effective weapon in Dead Space. In addition to being the default starting weapon, its triple plasma beams can be fired in a vertical or horizontal trajectory, making it perfect for limb lobbing from Necromorphs. It can also be significantly upgraded, with upgrades like flame shots and increased magazine capacity. Dead Space even has an achievement for beating the entire game with this weapon.
