The best weapons in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and where to get them

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, like other entries in the famous series, allows players to use a variety of weapons to eliminate enemies. Odyssey has multiple types of weapons, so players with different playstyles can try out what’s best for them.

In this article we will discuss the best weapons that players can find in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, their stats, what they are good for and where to find them.

Weapon categories of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

The game has several weapon categories, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. Some of them may seem more powerful compared to other weapon types, but the overall effectiveness of the weapons depends on their stats and the player’s character.

Odyssey has the following weapon types:

  • sword
  • dagger
  • Employees
  • Heavy Stump (Hammer, Mace)
  • Heavy Blade (Axe, Scythe, Club)
  • spear
  • bow

In this article we will talk about five of the most powerful weapons in the game.

The most powerful weapons in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey:

Here is a list of the most powerful weapons in Odyssey. These aren’t in any particular order – we’ve included them simply because they’re the best weapons of their kind.

Eternal Flame Hammer

kind: Hard blunt

DPS: 8,257 at level 99

engravings:

  • +25% warrior damage
  • +40% fire damage
  • Weapon damage becomes fire damage

The Eternal Flame Hammer is a legendary blunt weapon used in Ancient Greece. Some think it burns all the time without end, and others think it was taken from the heart of a volcano. Players can obtain this weapon by defeating a Greek mercenary known as “the Smoldering One”.

This legendary weapon greatly increases the damage each successful blow deals to opponents who receive the blow. Warrior builds benefit greatly from the 25% base damage increase coupled with an additional 40% fire damage. It also converts normal damage to fire damage without having to use the Flame Attack ability.

Arch of Achilles

kind: Bow

DPS: 7,180 at level 99

engravings:

  • +25% Hunter Damage
  • +10% CRIT Chance
  • +20% damage with the Devastating Shot ability

This stunning and deadly legendary bow was believed to have been wielded by the Greek hero Achilles. Somehow it ended up in the hands of a Greek mercenary known as “the Archer”. Defeating this mercenary will give you the Achilles Bow.

The Achilles Bow is perfect for players using a hunter-oriented build as it increases their base damage while also increasing the chances of landing critical hits. Additionally, the 20% increase in Devastating Shot damage makes it even more enticing to shoot from afar.

Xiphos of Dionysus

kind: sword

DPS: 8,257 at level 99

engravings:

  • +25% Assassin Damage
  • +50% CRIT damage
  • +20% damage with Hero Strike ability

This legendary sword is believed to have belonged to Dionysus, the Greek god of wine. This is further evidenced by the design of the xiphos – the head of a bull adorning the crossguard where the hilt and blade meet. Players can acquire this weapon by defeating Pausanias of Sparta later in the game.

The Xiphos’ engravings indicate that it is best suited for an assassin-oriented build, as it adds bonus base and CRIT damage. And as if that weren’t enough, it significantly increases the damage output of the already powerful Hero Strike ability.

Dagger of Kronus

kind: dagger

DPS: 8,257 at level 99

engravings:

  • +25% warrior damage
  • +30% damage with daggers
  • +40% damage when attacking from behind

The Dagger of Kronus was inspired by the titan Kronos’ act of castrating and disempowering his father Uranus. It is a beautiful weapon used by Nyx the Shadow, Sage of the Eyes of the Cosmos branch of the Cult of the Cosmos. Players must kill Nyx to obtain this weapon.

This dagger is great for taking out enemies from behind, as its engravings add a lot of bonus damage. It’s still good when attacking enemies from the front.

Falx of Olympus

kind: spear

DPS: 8,257 at level 99

engravings:

  • +25% Assassin Damage
  • +40% Adrenaline per CRIT
  • +100% damage but capped at 25% health

The falx of Olympos is a legendary spear of 5th century BC Greece. Unlike other weapons on this list, this mighty spear was left hidden in Amphitrite’s sunken palace at the bottom of the Aegean. Players who want to get their hands on this powerful weapon will need to search for and retrieve a legendary chest hidden in the area.

This extremely powerful weapon sacrifices your maximum health in exchange for a significant increase in the damage you deal to enemies. If you’re good at dodging enemy attacks, you can use this spear to kill all enemies while poking them.

And that’s it for the best weapons in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey by category. There are many other weapons in the game, but we recommend using these if you’re looking for the strongest weapon based on its type.
