After winning the Super Bowl in the NBA’s Play-In tournament, Timberwolves fans took to social media to celebrate like never before.

The Timberwolves defeated the Los Angeles Clippers by a staggering 31 points in the fourth quarter on Tuesday night when they closed a late deficit to earn a first-round berth against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Was the partying a little over the top? For sure. But why the hell not? Participant trophies don’t grow on trees.

Minnesota headed into the postseason proper, led by Karl-Anthony Towns, Anthony Edwards, D’Angelo Russell and Patrick Beverley. Beverley defended his side’s celebrations after the game on Twitter:

Charles Barkley was far from the only analyst, pundit, or fan to sting the Minnesota franchise by treating the play-in tournament like the NBA Finals. That being said, that’s exactly what Adam Silver wanted — more competitive games in smaller markets that aren’t as used to playoff basketball.

Casual NBA fans probably don’t understand the hardships Timberwolves supporters go through every year.

In the end, we’re happy for the Minnesota basketball fans. It was a long line of futility – truly one that few fandoms could ever comprehend.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t have some fun at their expense, too.
