The best crazy bets for March for today, March 19 (Memphis, Richmond, Saint Mary’s are among the top dogs of the day)

I have the difficult task of taking the “Best Bet” today from our college basketball insider, Reed Wallachbut I feel like we’re headed to a great venue this Saturday with some great men’s NCAA games to choose from.

I was also a bit greedy in the opening round, trying to lock in both Akron (+800) and San Francisco (+900 live) for outright wins over UCLA and Murray State, so let’s just focus on that. Competitive corners for today’s Round out of 32 plays.

As always, all odds are backed by WynnBET Sportsbook.

Richmond +3.5 vs Providence

I wrote Richmond as my “underdog of the day” at BetSided this morning and while the line in several other books has diverged towards Brothers, I believe Spider-Man is not only in a great position to cover, but to win outright.

We can expect this game to end as that is how both teams have played throughout most of the season. However, Providence is in decline and has been around for a while, becoming the most “Lucky” rated team at KenPom over the past year. It’s also not just a game here or there for the brothers, as their +194 number is historic for stats, and more than the second luckiest team in the college round (Samford ) .

Spider-Man only restricted one of the best and hottest fouls in college basketball to 63 points in Round 1 against the Hawkeyes, and has bolstered overall defense at the most crucial time of the year. Richmond is in the 92nd percentile in the Defensive Rating for their last five games, and I expect that strong drive to continue into Saturday.

PICK: Richmond +3.5 (-110)

Saint Mary’s +3 vs. UCLA

As an Indiana fan, I watched in awe as the well-rested Gaels picked a hot (but also energetic) Hoosiers team, beating IU 68-35 in the final 30 minutes of the game. .

Now, they’re up against a UCLA team just enough to win their opening game against 13th-seeded Akron, as the Bruins never had anything inside, hitting a 34.4% lead from within bow.

Both teams go head-to-head as they each have a revised KenPom defensive rating in the top 14 (UCLA 14, Saint Mary’s 9). Neither team turned the ball much and each team shot more than 35% from three points.

If Saint Mary’s win, they’ll need to do much better to get to the free-throw line; take advantage of their FT rate which ranks 32nd in the country (76.3%). The Gaels only tried 23.3% of their free-throw attempts to try to hit the target, placing 339th in college basketball.

The Bruins could be exhausted in the game against Akron, and a well-rested Gaels team is ready to take advantage.

PICK: Saint Mary’s +3 (-110)

Memphis +10 vs Gonzaga

The Zags seemed perfectly content with the 16-seeded Georgia State hanging around for nearly three-quarters of the ball in Round 1, before beating them late and causing the Panthers to lose 93-72 (of which they passed).

That strategy won’t work for Memphis, who despite their contradictions this season still possess one of the most talented rosters in college basketball. They made mistakes early on, but have been a solid defensive force in the last 10 games (97.9 defensive rating), and an elite counter-attacking offensive team, ranked at the 99th percentile by CBB Analytics compared to their previous 10.

For what it’s worth, here’s a lot of Expert and Joe’s games that end at WynnBET Sportsbookbecause 71% of the bets went to Gonzaga, but 79.5% of the money went to Memphis.

I will be supporting the pros and looking for Memphis to keep this much closer than the number 1 team in the league wants.

PICK: Memphis +10 (-110)
