Best of all, they did it, they actually stalled the landing. It seems odd that in this era of sprawling canon and movie universes, a trilogy could actually…end. but halo 3 actually pulled it off and married a satisfying resolution with just enough tragedy to make an impact. Then, of course, there’s the fitting send-off for the Master Chief, who floats in space on a fissured interstellar cruiser with none but Cortana, his longtime AI companion, for company. Who can forget her timeless coda: “Wake me, when you need me.”

The worst: nothing. I’ll be honest, I don’t know if I have anything here – or at least anything I would call the “worst” of halo 3 would be frivolous at best. While it’s undoubtedly old, some of its design choices feel ancient when weighed against the metrics of today. halo 3 was as flawless as a video game can get.
