Gearbox announced today at PAX East that it is developing a new entry in the Stories from the Borderlands Series. The game originally developed by Telltale was a narrative adventure game, similar to the Walking Dead and The wolf among us. The just-announced sequel will star new characters and will be out this year.
Towards the end of Gearbox’s PAX East Showcase, Gearbox Entertainment Company CEO Randy Pitchford announced on stage that fans would get a new one after years of waiting Stories from the Borderlands game later this year. Unlike the original title, this one is created “internally” by Gearbox.
In a tweet from Gearbox’s official Twitter account, the company explained that this new game will feature a new cast of characters. It is published by 2K Games, the same publisher behind the main border areas Franchise.
The original Stories from the Borderlands was released in 2014 and 2015 as an episodic adventure game developed by Telltale Games. It told the story of Hyperion employee Rhys and cool con artist Fiona, who (reluctantly) worked together to open what else, a vault. It is a border areas game, still. As in previous Telltale games, players made choices throughout the five episodes, changing the events of the story along the way.
The game was praised by critics and border areas fans for his excellent writing style and characters. I still love Loaderbot and hate that he wasn’t there borderland 3
Many of the other characters who first appeared in this game later appeared in a Borderlands 2 DLC and borderland 3. (It caused some controversy as not all were voiced by the original actors.)
We don’t know much about this new entry beyond that Pitchford and Gearbox teased today. It’s surprising that it’s launching later this year. After all, we just got a new one border areas Game in the form of the excellent spin-off shooter Tiny Tina’s Wonderland. And the border areas Movie, with its absurdly high-profile castwill appear later this year.
It seems that 2022 is the year of the border areas. I know some of you love this. For the rest of you…sorry!
