“The Banshees of Inisherin” tops London Critics’ Circle nominations

Martin McDonagh’s The Banshees of Inisherin led the nominations 43rd Annual London Critics’ Circle Film Awards with nine nominations, closely followed by Charlotte Wells’ Aftersun with eight.

Both films were nominated for Film of the Year, Director of the Year and Writer of the Year, as was Todd Field’s Tár. and Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert’s Everything Everywhere All at Once, both of which received six nominations. Sebastian Lelio’s “The Wonder” also achieved six nominations.

In the foreign language category, “The Quiet Girl”, “Decision to Leave”, “Saint Omer”, “EO” and “RRR” compete.

The awards are presented by the 200-strong film section of the Critics’ Circle, the UK’s longest-established critics’ organisation. The winners will be announced on February 5, 2023 at The May Fair Hotel in London.

“As always, our nominees stand out because our members actually see all the films that are released each year,” said Rich Cline, Critics’ Circle Film Section Chair. “So these nominations represent a cross-section of the very best films we’ve seen in 2022. And it’s great that each year we’re able to highlight films, filmmakers and performances that deserve attention.”
