The Banshees of Inisherin reunite Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson

The first trailer for The Banshees by InisherinMartin McDonagh’s first film since his Oscar-nominated 2017 crime drama Three billboards outside of Ebbing, Missourisees the In Bruges Director returns to Ireland after his brief stint in America’s heartland.

The film stars Colin Farrell as Pádraic, an affable and kind man living on the fictional remote island of Inisherin, whose world is abruptly rocked by the decision of his once-close friend Colm (Brendan Gleeson) to end their friendship. What begins as a minor argument between old buddies soon sends shockwaves through the tight-knit community, prompting everyone from Pádraic’s sister Siobhán (Kerry Condon) to the town vicar to inquire as to the cause of Colm’s animosity.

The tone of the trailer should be familiar to any fan of McDonagh’s work: tragically funny and darkly funny, packed with colorful dialogue and succinct, memorable jokes. Barry Keoghan (The Batman, Killing a Sacred Deer) appears as Dominic, the son of a local police officer, who comforts Pádraic Three billboards Contributors Ben Davis and Carter Burwell return to provide cinematography and scores, respectively, for McDonagh’s latest film.
