The Kansas City Chiefs looked to the 2022 NFL draft to fill some needs. Here are the best decisions Kansas City made during the draft.
During the 2022 NFL Draft, the Kansas City Chiefs walked out and hit some intriguing picks. Fans will definitely have opinions as to who the Chiefs ultimately picked, but that’s pretty much always the case with every decision a team makes at any point.
While not every pick or every pick from every draft is perfect for every team, it’s fairly safe to say that the well-run franchises in the NFL are usually able to navigate the draft and generally have more success to have in the draft.
As it turns out, the Chiefs happen to be a pretty good franchise, and they’ve had a pretty good time picking players in this year’s draft.
Here are the best decisions the Chiefs made during the 2022 NFL Draft.
2022 NFL Draft: Ranking of the Kansas City Chiefs’ best NFL draft decisions
#3: Design by Trent McDuffie
While many feel the Chiefs might not have needed to act in the first round this year to get a solid defensive end, Kansas City found a solid cornerback in Trent McDuffie. During his time with the Washington Huskies, McDuffie proved that he can be pretty good at recording tackles. He only made a few passes, but McDuffie accumulated 94 tackles, including 4.5 tackles for losses and a sack. The biggest hit here would be trade and many will struggle with that, but the Chiefs could use a decent corner and it seems they’ve found one.
No. 2: Design by George Karlaftis
The Chiefs’ second pick of the first round was a fair bit better than their first, and it was definitely enough to make Kansas City fans happier on the first day of the draft. The Chiefs didn’t have to trade to make that pick possible, and they got a defenseman who had a solid career with the Purdue Boilermakers. Karlaftis went out totaling 97 tackles and had 14 sacks during his career.
No. 1: Design by Skyy Moore
Finding a dynamic playmaker for Patrick Mahomes was pretty important for the Chiefs, and they may have just done that with a phenomenal draft pick in Skyy Moore. During his college career, Moore made all sorts of impressive plays. In his final season, Moore caught 95 passes for 1,292 yards and 10 touchdowns. Overall, Moore caught 171 passes for 2,482 yards and 16 touchdowns during his career. He’s definitely someone to watch as the Chiefs progress.
