Paris: In the French Open semi-final match, former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri and cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar praised tennis legend Rafael Nadal for the care he gave to an injured Alexander Zverev on Friday June 3.

On Twitter, Shastri and Tendulkar shared Rafael Nadal’s picture helping Alexander Zverev. See her posts below:

“That’s why exercise can make you cry. You will be back @AlexZverev. @RafaelNadal – sportsmanship, humility. Simply brilliant and respectful,” Shastri wrote.

While Tendulkar wrote, “The humility and concern that Nadal shows is what makes him so special.”

An ankle injury caused Olympic gold medalist Alexander Zverev to withdraw from the long and chaotic match, which ended in Rafael Nadal’s favour. After three hours without completing the second send, Nadal advanced to the finals with a 7-6 (10-8), 6-6. The final with eighth-seeded Casper Ruud (who defeated Marin Cilic 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 and reached his first Grand Slam final) could also be tennis’ 22nd Grand Slam victory -Great Nadal if he wins the game. Nadal is also a French Open finalist for the 14th time in his career.

During the game, Nadal showed true sportsmanship as he consoled Zverev. Zverev had badly sprained his ankle while chasing the ball. He was then wheeled off the field in a wheelchair. Zverev had reached the semifinals for the second year in a row.

Very sad for him, honestly, he played an incredible tournament,‘ Nadal said of Zverev. “He is a very good colleague on the tour. I know how hard he’s fighting to win a Grand Slam, but he’s been very unlucky at the moment. I’m just sure he won’t win one [but] much more than one. So I wish him all the best.
