Texas Longhorns Adds OT Kelvin Banks to College Football Recruitment Class of 2022

Texas receive a commitment from ESPN 300 to handle the attack Kelvin Banks on Saturday.

Banks, who was ranked 33rd overall by ESPN and 7th in Texas in the 2022 Division, previously committed Oregon, but he changed his mind on December 6 after coach Mario Cristobal left his former position at Miami.

The 6-foot-5, 290-pound tennis player from Summer Creek High School in Houston visited Texas and Texas A&M before his death, and he established a relationship with the Longhorns’ coaching staff.

Banks become the highest-rated pledge in the Longhorns class with four days remaining until signing date. Steve Sarkisian and his staff have 14 ESPN 300 commitments, with six ranked in the top 150.

Banks is the third ESPN 300 commitment to Texas as of November 25, joining support Jaylon Guilbeau and linebacker Kobie McKinzie, a problem before Oklahoma do.
