Texas A&M’s belated ascent to the NCAA Tournament has regained some momentum after the team beat SEC Tournament #1 seed Auburn 67-62 Friday afternoon.
Buzz Williams’ Texas A&M team is now firmly on a spot in the NCAA Tournament with a chance to move into field 68 with Saturday’s win.
The Aggies made their way up the ladder on Joe Lunardi’s ‘Next Four Out’, standing like the fifth team outside the field. However, Texas A&M could continue to build on their nominees with a Saturday afternoon game against LSU or Arkansas while everyone else is sitting at home waiting to hear their names on Selection Sunday. The Aggies still have a lot of work to do, but a win over the winners of LSU and Arkansas could be enough to put them on the field in one of the best End of Season Tournaments to push memory lately.
A&M beat the Tigers by 9.5 points after a solid defense limited Bruce Pearl’s team to 9 out of 36 3-pointers.
The team took a high 19 in the game from Tyrece Radford to keep their NCAA Tournament hopes alive, leading to much of the game en route to their biggest win of the season.
