Terrible call-out from MLB The Show instantly reminds fans of Angel Hernandez
You’d think playing MLB The Show would rid baseball fans of Angel Hernandez-esque bad calls. That would be a wrong assumption.
Has the artificial intelligence in it MLB The Show Somehow direct the real Angel Hernandez to a horribly screwed up call? A recent video game moment captured by a user shows a phone call that apparently only Hernandez could miss so badly.
Check out the clip below from a game MLB The Show between the Cleveland Guardians and the Oakland A’s. If there’s an award for the worst call in a video game, it might well win.
Angel Hernandez can’t escape his call after a terrible MLB The Show call
In real life, Hernandez went back to his old tricks on Saturday in a matchup between the Cincinnati Reds and the Milwaukee Brewers, with his name trending on Twitter thanks to a strike zone larger than it should have been within the first innings of the contest.
Of course, this isn’t the first time Hernandez has taken to social media this season. Flashback to April 24th when the Philadelphia Phillies hosted the Milwaukee Brewers on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball.
In the ninth inning of that game, with Hernandez behind the plate, Philadelphia’s Kyle Schwarber was called out for strikes on then-brewer seamer Josh Hader. Immediately after Hernandez’s Strike 3 call, it wasn’t long before Schwarber was available one of the most memorable and vivid explanations how bad Hernandez’s striking zone is often, even at the most important times of the game.
The Phillies would lose that game 1-0, by the way.
At that game in Philadelphia Hernandez was accurate 88 percent of the time Calling balls and strikes. The MLB average is 94 percent, which shows how bad Hernandez was and why Schwarber was certainly right about his outburst.
If the designers at MLB The Show try to reproduce the potential for bad calls when Angel Hernandez is on the field, they certainly did an excellent job.
