Teenage girl killed in deadly shark attack on Swan River in Fremantle

A young girl has died in the first deadly shark attack in the Swan River in a century.
Police had been called to the Fremantle Traffic Bridge in Fremantle around 3.45pm following reports of possible abuse.
A 16-year-old girl was pulled from the water with serious injuries, believed to be in her legs, and despite the best efforts of paramedics, she could not be saved
Family and friends were in a state of shock at the scene of the unimaginable tragedy on Saturday afternoon.

It is only the second time in 50 years that there has been a shark attack in the Swan River and the first fatality in 100 years.
Fremantle detectives will now prepare a report for the coroner.
