Tarik Skubal snaps in dugout amid Tiger trade rumors (video)

Tarik Skubal was surprisingly mentioned as a potential Tigers trading asset before the deadline. A day later he threw a tantrum in the dugout.

It is unknown if these two events are connected, but players will see everything. You can bet on Ken Rosenthal reporting am back to Skubal, suggesting that even the 25-year-old ace could be on the trading bloc.

However, Rosenthal was careful to provide a caveat to his reporting, saying that Al Avila considers just about everyone whose name isn’t Riley Greene or Spencer Torkelson an asset.

“It’s hardly a given that the Tigers would trade Skubal, considering their own rotation needs as they head towards their sixth straight loss. But like many teams, they are willing to consider any deal that could help them improve. And they went to a major league low on Tuesday with an average of 3.22 runs per game.”

True, Detroit has been a mess this season. AJ Hinch’s squad can’t make runs and it begs how many organizational holes the Tigers have going forward – and that contains Avila and the front office.

Baseball fans in MoTown assumed the remodeling would be almost complete before this year. What went wrong?

Still, Skubal has been one of the rare bright spots for a Tigers team that has miserably underperformed. Would it be worth swapping him of all people if he is under contract until 2026?

Tarik Skubal throws a fit in Tiger’s dugout

In the fog of all this, Skubal took on the Padres on Wednesday afternoon.

Despite throwing almost perfectly, Skubal left the game and gave up two runs, neither of which were earned, due in part to an error by Harold Castro.

Shortly thereafter, Skubal let his temper get the better of him, throwing a fit in the dugout and nearly hitting star outfielder Riley Greene with a faulty cup.

All in all a slight explosion. It’s been a long season in Detroit.
