Target Overturned, Rocket Down Bears 4-2
The Hershey Bears defeated Laval Rocket 4-2 on Sunday night at the GIANT Center. Draw 2-2 in the third round, Rocket scored twice in the final round to take the lead. Mike Vecchione scored an early goal in the third half that should have given the Bears a 3-2 lead, but the goal was overturned after reviewing the video for a kick.
At 10:15 in the first half, Cody Franson scored a second straight goal to give Hershey the lead. In a ball play, a shot from the center knocked Laval goalkeeper, Cayden Primeau. The Rocket responded at 17:00 on Terrance Amorosa’s first goal of the season. The shots after 20 minutes of parity were 10-10 with the score closed at 1-1.
The next stage, Laval scored with a header to jump forward, 2-1, just 1:27 on goal. Gabriel Bourque scored his third goal of the campaign assisted by Lukas Vejdemo. At 5:24, Alexeyev scored his first goal of the season for Chocolate and White. From a sharp angle, Alexeyev headed into the net and made a precise shot. In the 40th minute, 24-17 Bears had a match with a 2-2 draw.
After Vecchione’s turn-around goal in the third half, Laval was awarded a penalty. At 7:11, Rafaël Harvey-Pinard scored from the penalty spot to give Laval a 3-2 lead. Harvey-Pinard scored a second at 18:26 to complete the 4-2 win. The total last shot was 40-21 Hershey. The Bears finished 1 to 5 in the power match and 2 to 2 when taking the kill.
The Hershey Bears are back in action on Tuesday, December 14 when they take on the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on the road at Mohegan Sun Arena. Puck drop scheduled at 7:05pm Voice of the Bears Zack Fisch will have a call on Bears Radio Network.
