This Friday, Elden Ring published. If you’re looking forward to the game, start working on it that day. How will you focus? You will not. You’ll just count down the minutes — no, seconds — until you can get out of there and start playing From Software’s newest option.

But the game was called a masterpiece. So maybe you should just call in sick because you don’t feel like working. I know this. You know this. And the Japanese game company Pocket Pair knows this too.

Located in Tokyo, Pocket Pair is best known for Craftopiait is described as an “open world survival crafting game”. Craftopia caught our eye at a game showcase last fall. “I’m still not sure exactly what the game’s deal is, but it’s definitely a fever dream, I’ll definitely give it a try,” Written KotakuAri Notis’s at the time.

The people at Pocket Pair intelligently realized that the game’s release was such an event that it was officially announced as an “Elden Holiday” for all employees because, as stated in official statementthey “imagine that [staff] unable to concentrate on work”. They are probably right!

That means this Friday is an official holiday. How cool is that? In addition, although there are no official days off, but the studio also said that employees also do not need to go to work next Monday. That means they can spend the rest of the month playing Elden Ring.

This is not the first time. When Monster Hunter Rise was released, another company set up an official announcement “Monster Hunter Holiday” so all employees can stay home and play Monster Hunter Rise on release day in a beautiful three-day weekend. However, that holiday does not apply to top-level executives.

It’s unclear if this will be the same for Pocket Pair, but seeing how excited the head of the studio is, I doubt he’ll be working on Friday.
