Sylvester Stallone‘s Rocky Balboa is the sixth film in the Rocky franchise and it turns out this film was the toughest challenge of his career. Rocky is one of Stallone’s most iconic roles and it was quite incredible that he had the opportunity to play the character eight times! But his time as Rocky was almost over rocky v.
It’s because of rocky v that Stallone had such a hard time getting it Rocky Balboa from the soil. He had to struggle to make this film and it took him over 12 years to finally make it. While I actually liked rocky v, it was mostly viewed as a dud by both critics and audiences. He recently shared some glimpses of his bumpy journey on Instagram, saying:
“I love the sixth part. It was the toughest challenge I’ve ever had. It took over 12 years before it was possible. Nobody wanted to make it. Absolutely nobody. It was taken as a joke. But in my heart I loved the idea and I thought if I go out, I want to go out and do this film. Although no one involved with the other previous productions wanted anything to do with it and it ended up being done against all odds!!! When people ask what your most memorable movie moment is. Rocky Balboa, without doubt. That was the ultimate challenge. The first Rocky was of course amazing… But this dream was an almost impossible dream. I pushed this boulder uphill against overwhelming negativity for 12 long years until it finally happened… Almost by accident. One day I’ll tell the whole story. The irony is a Rocky Balboa had never been made, although nobody wanted to do it, the story of Believe would never have been done. My thanks go to MGM. So keep hitting!”
I’m glad that Rocky Balboa was actually made because it’s really awesome Rocky Movie. It’s pretty awesome that he actually managed to pull it off, and I’d love to hear the full story of how it actually “accidentally” happened. I want to know how accidentally a film is made!
Stallone also shared a behind-the-scenes video of some of the fight training and choreography that emerged Rocky Balboa. Listen!
