Superhero Family Day returns to Haydock Park this weekend

The venue welcomes families on Saturday for its annual Easter Family Fun Day.

The event will feature comic book characters visiting the venue in Newton-le-Willows, with free entertainment for children throughout the day.

An inflatable course, superhero crafts, face painting, a magician and a costume contest are among the activities planned for the day, as well as a special visit from ponies.

The superheroes taking part in the family event are Superman, Captain America, Wonderwoman and Spiderman who will be conducting superhero workshops throughout the day.

Molly Dingwall, General Manager of Haydock Park, said: “Days like our Superhero Family Day really offer something for the whole family.

“The track will be packed with entertainment and games for the kids while on track we’ll have a great racing map to enjoy.

“We love to see a new generation of younger racing fans coming through our doors and know the day will be a brilliant addition to your Easter weekend.

“There will also be a children’s costume contest, so don’t forget to bring your cape to win an Easter chocolate basket.”

Saturday also hosts the park’s final full jump race of the season before the transition to the flat season begins.

The next races will take place on April 29th with the Flat Season Opener before the final jumps of the 2022/23 season with the Pertemps Swinton Hurdle Day where racing will take place both on the flat and over hurdles.

The General Manager added: “We have thoroughly enjoyed the jumping season here at Haydock Park and have been really fortunate to experience some fantastic racing with highlights including Protectorat’s victory in the Betfair Chase last November and Quick Wave, the start won the Grand National Trial that year.

“Now we look forward to brighter nights, warmer days and some exceptional flat racing. We also have our music nights to look forward to including Craig David and Nile Rogers and Chic. We can hardly wait.”

Superhero Family Day will be held all day Saturday April 8th with gates opening at 11:30am.

The race starts at 1:30 p.m. and the last race at 5:00 p.m.
