Study shows potentially habitable moons may only form around minor planets

Earth’s moon is large relative to the size of the planet, and many astronomers have long believed that this fact helped make Earth a habitable world. And a new study has now found that our planet is just the right size to form such a large, potentially habitable moon.

Research by researchers from the University of Rochester in New York has found that rocky planets are 1.6 times the diameter of Earth and icy planets are more than 1.3 times in diameter. The earth potentially unable to create moons with life-supporting effects on them.
