Street Fighter 6 introduces Kimberly, brings back Yuri in a new trailer

We knew Street Fighter 6 would be playable at EVO 2022, but it turns out that Capcom had a new trailer ready that should also debut at the well-known fighting game tournament. Two more characters have been confirmed for Street Fighter 6: we have a newcomer and a veteran.

Kimberly and Juri’s new gameplay trailer is self-explanatory: it shows what the two fighters are capable of. First up is fresh-faced Kimberly, described as a “spunky ninja” in the trailer’s description. It’s a very apt name as she dances around with energetic, acrobatic moves. It seems to fit firmly into the rushdown category intended for more aggressive play. Her specials are just as fast-paced: one has her jumping between the edges of the arena, and the other involves hitting the opponent with a series of spray cans.

As for Juri, the “sadistic thrill-seeker” seems just as evil a fighter here as she has been in the last two games. First introduced in Super Street Fighter IV, Yuri has quickly become a fan favorite. Her specials feature the same brutal pain points that fans have come to expect.

With the addition of Kimberly and Yuri, the roster of playable characters in Street Fighter 6 continues to grow. Another veteran fighter, American muscleman Guile was the youngest character to be confirmed before this duo. Of course, the entire roster leaked ahead of time, so none of it came as a particularly surprising one.

Still, we’re expecting big things when Street Fighter 6 comes out. The highly anticipated game has a 2023 release date, although we don’t know exactly when it will be out next year. It’s coming via Steam for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. This Xbox release is quite notable as it marks the first time in over a decade that a new Street Fighter game will be available on the system at launch. Even better, Street Fighter 6 will feature crossplay between these three platforms.
