Stephen Silvagni returns to St Kilda as list manager to meet with AFL coach Ross Lyon

The significant transformation of St Kilda’s football department continues with Carlton legend Stephen Silvagni returning to the Saints as list manager.
Silvagni is back at Moorabbin, having previously worked as an assistant coach during Ross Lyon’s first stint with the Saints between 2007 and 2010.

Veteran Graeme Allan has also stepped into the role of talent director at the club, having joined St Kilda in an advisory capacity back in 2018.
It will be Silvagni’s first official job with an AFL club since his acrimonious split from the Blues in late 2019 after five years as Carlton’s list manager.
The 312-game star worked at GWS when the club was drafted into the AFL ahead of the 2012 season before moving to the Blues.
“It is an exciting time for the club to have two extremely experienced football administrators coming together to support the programme,” said St Kilda Chief Executive Simon Lethlean.
“Given Graeme’s existing consulting role, his appointment as our Head of Talent and Acquisition ensures a smooth transition while Stephen adds another layer of experience to the program.
“Stephen will focus on developing the club’s overall roster strategy while also supporting Graeme and the broader recruitment team in identifying and acquiring talent as the club seeks to strengthen and develop its roster.”
St Kilda’s football department has changed dramatically since Brett Ratten’s surprise sacking as manager in October.
Lyon returned to the Saints two weeks after Ratten’s removal, 11 years after leaving St Kilda to become Fremantle manager ahead of the 2012 season.
Veteran administrator Geoff Walsh has been appointed as the Saints’ football manager.
“St. Kilda has seen significant changes to its playlist over the past four years and to ensure the program has every opportunity to thrive now and in the future we must continue to invest in our recruitment strategy and focus on attracting more elite Talent, whether it’s through trade or enlistment,” Lethlean said.
Allan and Silvagni will officially begin their roles on February 15th.
