Steph Curry says he understands why Tom Brady isn’t retired (video)

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry jokingly said he understands why quarterback Tom Brady didn’t retire during his opening monologue on ESPYS this offseason.

ESPN presents the ESPY Awards each year, recognizing all athletic achievements throughout the calendar year. But there is also a host for the event. This year it was time Warriors of the Golden State Star and reigning NBA Finals MVP Stephen Curry.

As is the case with any host, Curry opened the ceremony with a monologue, cracking jokes in front of those in attendance and the viewers at home. Curry spoke about why he keeps filling his schedule this offseason, which has included hosting the ESPY Awards. Curry said after celebrating three children’s birthdays in two weeks, he understands why quarterback Tom Brady hasn’t retired.

Curry went on to say that Brady is the only person he knows who “would rather get hit by Aaron Donald than hang out with a supermodel.”

One of the biggest news in esports earlier this year was Brady’s announcement of his retirement from the NFL. This happened after Tampa Bay Buccaneers were eliminated by the eventual Super Bowl champions the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Divisional Round despite a miraculous second-half comeback.

Brady’s retirement lasted about a month before announcing he was returning to the Buccaneers. After his return, however, there were some changes.

Bruce Arians moved to a front office position, and defense coordinator Todd Bowles replaced him as head coach. Brady’s longtime teammate Rob Gronkowski retired for the second time.

Brady wants to lead the Buccaneers to the Super Bowl for the second time in three years. They have a good chance considering the AFC has a much tougher road to the big game than the NFC.
