Starting tomorrow, Marvel Snap lets you compete against your friends

Marvel snap is very good. We’ve said that before. Heck, we even called it one of the best games of 2022. But one big feature was missing at launch: the ability to challenge your friends. Tomorrow’s Marvel snap update will finally add the much-requested feature to the popular card game.

After a beta phase Marvel snap came out on phones and PCs in October. It quickly became popular due to its focus on small decks, fast-paced matches, and random chaos. Since then it has received several updates, adding good stuff like artist credits and bad stuff like expensive in-game bundles. But what kind of people Yes, really wanted was a way to compete head-to-head with their friends. Shortly after publication The developers promised a battle mode for buddies came later in 2022. Then that was quietly pushed back to 2023. But it’s finally arriving tomorrow and I’m very excited.

battle mode on Marvel snap will work slightly differently than current games. Instead of a quick game, you play multiple rounds against your friend with the same decks. Developer Second Dinner says matches will likely last around 20 minutes, which sounds a bit long for my tastes, but we’ll see.

How battle mode will work Marvel snap

This is how the developer explains this new mode in a blog earlier this month:

In battle mode, two opponents compete against each other in several rounds. Each player starts with 10 health. Instead of dice, it’s about the damage the winner deals to the loser. If you can reduce your opponent’s health to zero, you win!

In combat mode, the focus is on the missions. Each SNAP and Retreat has a special meaning as each point of health is vital to staying alive.

Barring any last minute delays or issuesstarting tomorrow, January 31st, you can challenge your friends to a duel Marvel snap. In addition, a number of rare and powerful cards drop in series, like Shuri and Black Panther, making it easier for you to farm them from within the collection path. And they cost less in the token shop. All good news!

While some might not care about this upcoming battle mode, I’m very excited. Being able to duel your friends is an important part of a good card game. Also, I have to beat my peers with my awesome Zabu deck. It will make the game even better and make me feel like a smart, strong player. That, or I’ll get my ass kicked so bad I’ll delete my decks and never come back to Slack.
